IRA Charitable Rollover
-
Age 70 1/2
-
Direct Transfer
-
Not Taxable
-
No Tax Deduction
The Pension Protection Act of 2006 allows citizens over the age of 70.5 years to make charitable gifts directly from their IRA that will not count toward taxable-income. The new reform puts a $100,000 limit on these gifts, and it must be proven that the gift will in no way benefit the donor or the donor's family. The IRA rollover reform is a wonderful opportunity for those who could stand to benefit from this tax exemption, especially non-itemizers, those whose tax exemptions disappear as their income rises, and those who give more than 50% of their income to charity. For more information about this reform, please visit the Independent Sector's website by clicking here.
