July Outing Our golf group outing was a ton of fun as we all got to practice our golf swing while aiming at one of our Bigs! Thanks John for putting on the Velcro suit and letting us take some swings at you! Everyone enjoyed a nice evening at Anaconda Hills Golf Course driving range and putting green and some of the matches worked on their game and played a few holes. Thanks to the staff at Anaconda Hills for letting us use the children*s clubs and the Velcro *Snag* equipment!

August Outing The KOA splash park outing was a great success. It was an extremely hot day which paired nicely with the cold water. There was plenty of chicken and goodies for everyone so no one left hungry. Thanks to all the people who added to the feast by bringing their side dishes and desserts to share. All three water slides had constant lines of Bigs and Littles. Some of our volunteers were even acting like kids themselves by splashing the others as they came down the slides. Someone brought a tube and people were floating on it and taking it down the slides. There were also water jets which could be turned on and off by the swimmers, as well as a granite sphere which was atop of a jet of water which people could touch and make spin. Even though it was a hot day we still had some of the party goers soaking in the two hot tubs. If you didn*t make it to the August outing, make sure to keep up to date on more outings coming this year and mark your calendars. Thanks again to everyone who helped in any way to make this outing an outstanding one.

September Outing On Saturday the 24th a busload of Little*s and a few volunteers headed to the base for an all day tour. First thing on the agenda was a visit to the hanger where the helicopters are maintained. There was also a visit to the Missile Procedures Training Facility where the group was given hands on training and actually completed a mock firing of the missiles. Afterwards the group rendezvoused at the park to eat lunch and play on the playground. Little did we know the bees also wanted to join us for lunch. With only one bee sting during lunch, we then made our way to the Explosives Ordinance Disposal Unit to watch demonstrations from two robots which were operated by remotes. Everyone was impressed to watch a simulation on the disposal of explosive devices. If this wasn*t enough, the group then visited the K9 Unit and witnessed an amazing demonstration of the capabilities of the dogs working at Malmstrom. It appeared most people in the group wanted to stay and watch the dogs take down the *bad guy* all day long. Lastly, we finished the tour at the Base Museum where the group was shown a video about the different stages of the missiles and how they are taken into space before coming back to earth. It was a great trip and everyone left the base smiling. Many thanks to Board Member KJ Cullen and Big Sister Cortney Paxton for organizing our day.
