“A Party with a Heart” shows some love to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Great Falls

Great Falls--Fundraising event CPAP Solutions Select 2008 benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters took place February 8, 2008 at Meadow Lark Country Club.  Big Brothers Big Sisters is pleased to announce the auction and dinner grossed $66,306. The money raised will be used to fund Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring programs, bringing a role model and friend to children in the Great Falls community who need and want a mentor.

"I am thankful to every community member and business who contributed to the success of Select." said BBBS CEO Tina Cubbage.  “With grant money becoming harder to obtain, fundraising is more important than ever.  Mentoring is a valuable community service we can't afford to lose.”

The BBBS community mentoring program currently supports 68 matches between adult mentors and youth, an increase from last year.  The school program has close to 100 matches between high school students or adults with elementary students.  School matches meet at the elementary schools for one hour each week.  There are over forty children waiting (versus 20 this time last year) for a Big Brother or Sister in the community program and many more in the school program.

"The Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program would not be possible without the generous contributions from the community," Cubbage said. "The event sponsor CPAP Solutions, our major and table sponsors, Cory Wells who donated his talents for the evening, and the Select attendees all proved to be a generous group.”  Pat Laabs from Laabs Construction stood up and pledged $5,000 towards the end of the evening and challenged others to match his gift.  He shared an emotional, personal story about the need for mentoring in children's lives with the Select audience.  Although no one matched his $5,000, the audience all pledged smaller amounts equaling $14,750.
