Do you know a child who could benefit from the additional support of a Big? Keep in mind, that Bigs are friends and mentors, not meant to take the place of a parent. Knowing that, be reassured national research has shown that the shared experiences between Bigs and Littles have a direct and lasting impact on children’s lives.
To enroll a child, the child’s legal guardian will fill out an application and set up an interview with BBBS staff. After the interview, the child is placed on the unmatched list. There is no seniority; meaning when a child comes into the program has no bearing on when the child will be matched. Matches are made based on interests, hobbies, personality, preferences, and compatibility.
You may refer a child or children by contacting the BBBS office by calling 453-5521 or stopping by at 18 6th St N Ste 26. A professional staff will walk you through the process. Individuals referring a child they know, but are not custodian of, will be asked to fill out a referral form.
